Make sure that you take time in understanding these roles so that you can do your part in raising highly efficient and effective persons. Here is the list:

Share The Love

One of the things that you must never forget is to express your love and affection to your kids. As much as possible, make it a top priority to make them feel that they are important in your family life. The more you show them genuine love, the more they will become inspired to share what they receive from you to those surrounding them. Fortunately, there are tons of ways on how you can show how much they mean in your life. Every single day offers you an opportunity to be more caring and loving.

Each time a person strengthens his or her expression of character, that person sends a ripple effect to the social world around them. In that way, building a better world is not simply accomplished one person at a time, but instead is a process that leverages social networks and social learning. — Neal H. Mayerson Ph.D.

Have More Quality Time

Remember that no amount of money is enough reason to keep you away from your family, especially from your children. As such, always see to it that they belong to your number one priority. Take some time off from your work or business so that you can spend more time with the ones you love. Wealth is nothing if you have no one to share it with. When your kids feel that they are more significant over money, they will begin to appreciate family over money and not the other way around.

The goal is to challenge you to think of what your character means to you, and how you can build on your own strengths and those of people in your community—your friends and family. — Joshua Gowin Ph.D.

Facilitate Open Communication

Communication is one of the vital elements that make up a successful relationship between parents and children. Because of this, it is essential for you to find ways on how you can start and maintain an open and honest connection with everyone in the family. Let your children know that you are always willing to listen to whatever they have to say. If they want to talk to you, be sure to cancel appointments and accommodate their requests. Take note that failure to establish effective communication among family members can lead to chaos. When you do this, it can remind your kid of the value of communicating freely and honestly at all times.

Meet Their Friends

Another vital thing that you have to do is to make an effort to get to know the friends of your kids. Do not be too relaxed to the point that you no longer investigate as to who their friends are or what they usually do. Whether you like it or not, the truth is that these individuals have the ability to influence the way your children would act or talk. Hence, if they end up being surrounded by people who are disrespectful, dishonest and cruel, they may also end up like them. If you do not want any of this to happen, then be sure to meet their friends. However, be sure that you take time in getting to know them instead of being too judgmental.

Promote Discipline

No matter how much you admire and love your kids, do not neglect the importance of disciplining them so that they can grow up into the kinds of persons whom you can be proud of. If you have to scold them, be sure to do it right away. It is an excellent way of letting them know that they did something wrong. Hopefully, they can learn from the experience and refrain from making the said mistakes over again. Nonetheless, it does not mean that you can already say anything you want. It is still best if you will think twice before uttering words that can hurt your kids emotionally.

It seems to me that participation in sports can build character, but it doesn’t just happen, we must be intentional about it. Parents and coaches need to demonstrate through their words and actions the values of sports that translate well into daily life, including respect for oneself and others, fairness, grace in defeat, humility in victory, and the virtue of self-denial. — Michael W. Austin Ph.D.

Remember that every parent plays an essential role in the character building of children. If you want to enjoy a peaceful and harmonious society, be sure to fulfill these roles at home. Always remember that anything is possible as long as you know how to believe in your power to make a chance in this world. Do not be afraid to be firm in making decisions so that your children will also grow up as strong individuals.
